    Drs. Tyler and Garry Nelson were born in Brooklyn, New York in 1964 and 1966. The brothers grew up in Brooklyn and Staten Island before attending High School in New Jersey. Dr. Tyler Nelson is a graduate of Bloomfield College, in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Dr. Garry Nelson is a graduate of Ocean College in New Jersey. Dr. Garry has a B.S. Degree along with his D.C. Degree or Doctorate of Chiropractic. Dr. Tyler has a B.A. Degree along with his D.C. Degree.

    Both doctors were first patients of chiropractic before deciding to become chiropractors. Dr.'s Nelson were treated earlier in life and decided after a positive experience to seek a career in chiropractic. Both doctors ventured off to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa to seek their education.

Chiropractic Education

    Unfortunately, many people still do not understand the extensive amount of education that chiropractors must receive before being licensed as a practicing chiropractor.

    In the state of North Carolina a four year degree prior to entering Chiropractic College. Chiropractic Education is made up of twelve quarter semesters or approximately a five year course of study. This postgraduate program is an intense education complete with every major course studied in most medical schools. With the exception in Pharmacology, Chiropractic focus of study includes many more hours of study of the muscular, skeletal and nervous systems of the human body.

    Chiropractors must pass three parts of a national board and one part of a physical therapy board before being eligible to take a separate state board. In the state of North Carolina, every doctor must pass a practical and radiological exam in order to obtain a license to practice chiropractic.

    Before graduating Chiropractic College, every student must complete one year of clinical experience. In addition, 24 hours of Post Graduate study must be obtained every year in order to retain a license to practice chiropractic.

    Chiropractors are highly skilled practitioners who believe that optimum health is obtainable through good sound principles of health including diet, exercise, proper body biomechanics and understanding the correlation between structure and function.

    Dr. Tyler is a 1993 graduate and Dr. Garry is a 1994 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic. Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa is the founding college of chiropractic. The first Chiropractor in the United States founded the profession and began the first College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa. The college is known as the Fountain Head of Chiropractic. It is where the profession first began and where students from all over the world go to seek a sound chiropractic education.

    Upon graduation, both Dr. Garry Nelson and Dr. Tyler Nelson were employed by a chiropractor in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After working for a short while for another chiropractor, they decided to open their own office on Yadkin Road. In 1996, Nelson and Nelson opened their first office on Yadkin Road. Today, Nelson and Nelson Chiropractic has additional offices on Ramsey Street and in Hope Mills, North Carolina.

    Dr. Garry Nelson and Dr. Tyler Nelson have worked extremely hard to develop their clinics. They understand that the FIRST and FOREMOST importance is the patient. They have created a unique atmosphere throughout their clinics that offers patients limited waiting time, effective treatment, minimal paperwork and doctors that meet the specific needs and concerns of patients. It is a formula that has been successful and continues to generate referrals from the many people who they have helped. They truly do... "Care for you!"

    The doctors spend endless hours working within the community and have sponsored hundreds of organizations, schools, teams, churches, community organizations, events and individuals. The Nelson brothers are very appreciative of the people who have chosen them as their providers.
